Supported Living for Mental Health

The Butterfly’s supported living care service is often the first step when helping those with a mental health condition. Our carers visit the homes of people who need our help and support them through daily living.

People who require this type of support feel more comfortable in their own homes. Our supported living service allows for independence but with professional support providing whatever care they need.

At Butterfly’s we have various supported living services across Essex for those with mental health conditions to offer the help and care that they need to manage their condition and live life to the fullest.

What is Mental Health?

Good mental health is a level of psychological well-being, or an absence of mental illness. It is a positive state of mind and body, feeling safe and able to cope, with a sense of connection with people, communities and the wider environment - NHS.

From the perspective of positive psychology or holism, mental health may include an individual's ability to enjoy life and create a balance between life activities and efforts to achieve psychological resilience.

At Butterfly’s we have various supported living and other care services for those with mental health conditions. We offer the help and care that they need to manage their condition and live life to the fullest.

What is a Mental Health Condition?

A mental illness or mental health disorder diagnosis means that you have been recognised as having a condition that affects the way you think, behave or interact with other people. The spectrum of mental health conditions is vast and treatment can vary from therapy to medication to supported living.

We understand that despite a generic diagnosis, every person will have individual symptoms, coping mechanisms and triggers and therefore should be treated as such. Some of the mental illnesses we can help with are;

It is important to note that these are not the only mental health conditions we can offer support with and we are always very happy to chat if you would like to discuss your specific needs.

Why We Usually Recommend Supported Living

For those with mental health conditions, we often recommend supported living. We have a number of reasons for this.

Suffering from mental health issues can leave a person feeling very vulnerable and supported living can provide that reassuring support that they might struggle to get in their own home. With supported living, an individual will be;

Empowered to live life the way they want to in a safe environment.

Supported by our fully trained staff who will provide the care they need when they need it.

Encouraged to break down the barriers that a mental health condition has built up.

Reassured by living in a shared supported living space, if they so chose. They will have the opportunity to socialise with people in similar circumstances to them which can be very reassuring.

Focused on themselves. Without the responsibilities of daily life and the distractions of running a home, it is possible to focus fully on managing the symptoms of a condition
